Yamaha FZ25 is the first high-end entry of the company in the 250cc segment as far as the Indian market is concerned. Also, the Yamaha FZ250 will be a delight for the fans of the FZ series. The elegant yet powerful naked street bike has been launched in India at a price point of INR 1,19,500 (ex-showroom Delhi). Even at this price, this is one of the most attractive offerings from Yamaha given its high torque and very fuel-efficient engine.

Yamaha FZ250 will give a tough competition to the likes of KTM 200 Duke and Apache RTR 200. Also, it is much cheaper than the Benelli TNT 250 which is also a 249cc bike coming at a price of INR 1.80 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). FZ25 has an advantage of being backed up by a very trusted brand.

All-New Yamaha FZ25 is a matured 250cc street commuter bike for the niche segment and for the buyers who don’t run after the high-end performance. The bike does not disappoint in terms of mileage as it comes equipped with Fuel Injection (Fi) technology.

Design & Style

No doubt, this version of the Yamaha FZ series has some impeccable styling and unmatched class. Yamaha FZ25 is a premium segment offering and looks like a very stylish naked street bike. The LED headlight and tail light also add to the appeal of this new 250cc FZ. The bike also has all-new alloy wheels and looks nothing like India has ever seen from Yamaha. Although the bike has a muscular fuel tank, it could have been bulkier to give a better feel to the rider.

Instrument Console

Yamaha FZ25 comes with a fully digital instrument console which adds up to the premium feel for the rider. It is placed very close to the handle and is hexagonal in shape. It has a digital speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, clock etc.

Engine & Gearbox

Yamaha FZ25 is powered by a 249cc engine which generates a maximum power of 20.69 bhp @ 8000 rpm and gives out a maximum torque of 20 Nm @ 6000 rpm. The fuel injected engine is air-cooled, 4 stroke and comes with Yamaha’s Blue Core technology. The naked street bike has claimed mileage of 43 kmpl which is good enough for a bike in this segment. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

Performance & Top Speed

According to a recent performance test done by PowerDrift, Yamaha FZ25 takes just 3.37 seconds to reach 60 kmph and 8.58 seconds to touch 100 kmph. It has a very good amount of torque low rpm level and the bike very lightweight at 148 kg. The actual VBOX tested top speed of the bike is 134 kmph (142 kmph on the speedometer).

Dimensions and Weight

The Yamaha FZ25 has an overall length of 2015 mm with a width of 770 mm and has a height of 1075 mm. The 250cc street bike has a ground clearance of 160 mm and has a seat height of 795 mm. The bike has a low kerb weight of 148 kg and comes with a 14 litres fuel tank. The bike gives you a good tallboy feel but it is not as bulky as one would like it.

Brakes & Suspension

The premium street bike comes with a 282 mm front disc brake with a 2 pot calliper and is equipped with a 220 mm rear disc brake with a single pot calliper. The absence of ABS in this segment is a big letdown, Yamaha could have at least provided Anti-lock Braking System as an option.

Tyres & Shades

The Yamaha FZ25 is equipped with a sporty 100/80-17 front tyre and 140/70-17 rear tyre. Yamaha ensures that they provide the best equipment. Also, the tyres ensure a superior road grip, for the street bike that comes with a powerful engine with a torque of 20 Nm. The bike is available in three elegant shades: Ballistic Blue, Knight Black and Warrior White.

Variants & Price

The bike is available in a single primary variant which comes with all the standard features. The 249cc engine naked street bike comes with fuel-injection technology which remains a major attraction for anyone who wants a premium Yamaha product.

Yamaha FZ25 comes at an ex-showroom Delhi price of INR 1,19,500. The price point for this Yamaha product of this segment looks like a genuine gamble. Compared to other bikes in the segment such as Benelli TNT 25, this Yamaha bike is way more affordable and also comes with the trust of the brand who owns it.
