Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 Price, Features And Specification

About Royal Enfield:

Royal Enfield was a brand name under which The Enfield Cycle Company Limited Redditch,  Worcestershire sold motorcycles, bicycles, lawnmowers and stationary engines which they had manufactured. Enfield Cycle Company also used the brand name Enfield without Royal.

The first Royal Enfield motorcycle was built in 1901. The Enfield Cycle Company is responsible for the design and original production of the Royal Enfield Bullet, the longest-lived motorcycle design in history. Enfield’s remaining motorcycle business became part of Norton  Villiers in  1967 and that business closed in 1978. A former subsidiary continues to manufacture Royal Enfield motorcycles in India.

Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 Debuts at EICMA 2017

The Continental GT 650 Twin uses the same 648 cc parallel-twin motor as the Interceptor. The engine makes 47 bhp at 7,100 rpm and 52 Nm at 4,000 rpm and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-assist clutch. The engine gets a 270-degree firing order, which the company found to have the smoothest setup and feel.

The engine is air-cooled, of course. The bike gets ABS as standard, which is great news actually. The bike gets a dual-cradle, tubular steel frame which was made by Harris Performance. The bike gets 41 mm telescopic suspension up front which has 110 mm of travel. At the rear, there are twin coil-over shock absorbers with 88 mm of travel. The bike weighs 198 kg (dry). Up front is a 320 mm disc while the rear tyre gets a 240 mm disc.

Royal Enfield has always priced its new models aggressively. With the company now moving to a brand new segment of motorcycles, expect the prices to be aggressive. Our guess would be around Rs 4 lakh to Rs 4.5 lakh. Anything below and Royal Enfield could have yet another winner on its hands.

Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 Price in India

Price (expected) Rs 3 Lakh (ex-showroom)

The new 650cc version of the RE’s cafe racer will launch in several countries across the globe. Of course, India will be among the first few markets to get this bike. In a highly price sensitive market like India, where the selling price plays a huge role in the buying decision, it gets really important for companies to have an ultra-competitive price. Prices are likely to be kept around the Rs 3 lakh mark.
