Bajaj Dominar 200 Launch Date, Price, Specification, Features, And Mileage

Bajaj About:

Bajaj Auto Limited is a global two-wheeler and three-wheeler manufacturing company. Bajaj Auto manufactures and sells motorcycles, scooters and auto rickshaws. Bajaj Auto is a part of the Bajaj Group. It was founded by Jamnalal Bajaj in Rajasthan in the 1940s. It is based in Pune, Mumbai, with plants in Chakan (Pune), Waluj (near Aurangabad) and Pantnagar in Uttarakhand. The oldest plant at Akurdi (Pune) now houses the R&D centre ‘Ahead’.

Bajaj Auto is the world’s sixth-largest manufacturer of motorcycles and the second-largest in India. It is the world’s largest three-wheeler manufacturer. On May 2015, its market capitalization was ₹640 billion (US$10 billion), making it India’s 23rd largest publicly traded company by market value. The Forbes Global 2000 list for the year 2012 ranked Bajaj Auto at 1,416.

Bajaj Dominar 200 Launch in Offing?

For Bajaj Auto, the Dominar 400 has been a success. Taking the template of Ducati Diavel and using it to make a smaller bike has worked wonders. However, Bajaj had more help than just in the design department. At its disposal was the KTM 390 Duke/RC 390‘s 373cc single. All it had to was to make the motor more civilised for daily use.

The Dominar 200 is a different beast in that respect. Can it be as successful as the Dominar 400? Let’s find out by taking a look at Bajaj Dominar 200 price, specifications, features and other details. Do keep in mind that Dominar 200 launch may take place in April 2018 at a price of Rs 1,10,000.

Bajaj Dominar 200 Price

Standard variant Price* Rs 1,10,000
ABS Variant Price* Rs 1,25,000

The Bajaj Dominar 200 will make use of the same engine as the Pulsar RS 200 (derived from KTM 200 Duke/RC 200). Also, it will be detuned a bit in the Dominar application. To keep costs in check, we think the Dominar 200 will come with a single-channel ABS unit.

Bajaj Dominar 200 Launch Date

Launch Date April 2018

While we think the Bajaj Dominar 200 will come to the market in April, we feel the bike maker will show it at Auto Expo 2018. This is because the Dominar look quite striking (more on this later) and in concept form, it attracted many eyeballs at previous auto expos. All the more reason to show it at Auto Expo 2018.

Bajaj Dominar 200 Specifications

Engine displacement and type 200cc, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, SOHC, single cylinder
Power 21PS
Torque 16Nm
Transmission 6-speed
Suspension (front/rear) Telescopic forks/Nitrox monoshock
Brakes (front/rear) Single 300mm disc with ABS/Single 230mm disc

Like we said earlier, the Bajaj Dominar 200’s specs will be similar to those of Pulsar RS 200. The difference arises in power and torque figures, which are on the lower side for the smaller Dominar. However, the rest of the components should stay the same. Another thing to note here is that Dominar 200 will have retuned suspension. Expect its gear ratios to also be redone.

Bajaj Dominar 200 Mileage

City Mileage 36 kmpl
Highway Mileage 40 kmpl

Having a detuned engine in comparison to Pulsar RS 200 means the Dominar 200 will offer better mileage. However, don’t expect it to offer way better mileage over its Pulsar counterpart. This is because the Pulsar RS 200 has a full fairing to help it in aerodynamics department. The Dominar 200? Well, let’s just wish the wind blast is manageable at highway speeds on this bike.

Bajaj Dominar 200 Top Speed

Top Speed 130 kmph

In its detuned state, the 200cc engine of Bajaj Dominar 200 should be able to push it to a top speed of 130kmph. Again, the lack of a fairing hurt this bike’s chances of doing higher speeds. The engine’s detuned state is of no help to the bike in this department either.

Bajaj Dominar 200 Design Review

The elder sibling of the Bajaj Dominar 200, the Dominar 400, has a universally-likeable design. Bajaj touts this design to be inspired by a lion’s stance. The fact is that this bike looks well-proportioned. Since wires have been hidden well, the exposed bits like engine look clean on this bike.

Expect the Dominar 200 to look similar to maintain that familiarity, in terms of design, with its elder sibling. We do think that Bajaj will give it different alloy wheels to ensure it can be differentiated from its elder brother with ease. Also, it may not have LED DRLs to keep costs down. For this very reason, Bajaj may use projector headlamps (Pulsar 220) on Dominar 200 than LED headlamps from Dominar 400.

Technical Specification Of Bajaj Dominar 200

Type Naked
Shades Red, Black, Blue, Grey (Expected)
Current Status Upcoming (Rumored)
Summary Bajaj Pulsar CS200 is currently under the state of confusion as the bigger product from its lineup, CS400 has been named Dominar 400 by the company. If seen the same way, the CS200 will soon change to Dominar 200 and the motorcycle will carry the same 199.5 cc engine from the 200 Duke. Not just that, it will also get a reduced power output in order to suit the cruiser character of the motorcycle. The currently used engine on Bajaj Pulsar RS200 is good for 24.2 BHP at 9750 rpm and 18.6 Nm at 8000 rpm. As of now, there is no news about Dominar 200 anywhere in the Indian automobile market.
